Personal records are more than just numbers. They represent hard work, perseverance, and that one moment when you realize: I have become stronger.

That's exactly why the SmartWOD Workout Generator app now has a new feature: personal records (PRs).

So you can not only feel your progress, but also see it. And above all, celebrate it.

What are PRs anyway?

Athlete during training

PR stands for personal record – your personal best performance in a particular exercise or discipline. This can be anything:

  • Your 1RM in the deadlift (the maximum weight you can lift once)

  • Your fastest time over 500m rowing

  • Most unbroken double unders

  • Your first strict pull-up

No matter how you train, PRs are milestones along the way. They show where you started, how far you've come, and what you can achieve.

Why should I keep track of my PRs?

Keeping track of your PRs (personal records) is more than just a nice extra—it's a key component of meaningful, motivating training.

Here are the most important reasons why you should document your PRs:

  1. You make progress visible: Much training progress happens gradually. If you don't record your best performances, they get lost in everyday life. With PRs, you can see exactly how you are improving – in terms of weight, repetitions, time or technique. That motivates you.

  2. You train with a goal in mind, not just on a whim: when you know where you stand, you can better plan what you're working towards. Your PRs show you what's possible – and help you set realistic but challenging goals. This brings focus to your training.

  3. You recognize patterns and slumps: By compiling a collection of your best performances, you can see which phases you developed particularly well in—and when you may have stagnated. This allows you to better understand and adapt your training in retrospect.

  4. Celebrate your successes – even the small ones: We often only think of progress when we make big leaps forward. But a new personal best with 2.5 kg more weight or 10 seconds faster also counts. Every record is proof that you are getting better. And that feels good.

  5. You stay motivated in the long term: training without visible progress is frustrating. PRs give you regular small successes – and keep your motivation high, even when everyday life gets stressful.

  6. You develop a personal training history: your PRs tell your story as an athlete. They show where you came from and how you have developed over months or years. And nothing motivates more than seeing how far you have come.

If you use SmartWOD, the PR feature is the perfect place to record all of this—right in the app, available anytime, and always with you.

The emotional value of PR – more than just progress

PRs are often linked to a specific moment: your first real pull-up after weeks of practice. A new personal best in squats. Or simply when you finally perform well again after a long break.

PRs are reminders. Proof. Stories.

And they deserve a permanent place in your app—not just as numbers, but as part of your journey.

The PR feature in SmartWOD Generator: How it works

PR feature in the SmartWOD workout generator app

With the new PR feature, your SmartWOD Workout Generator app becomes a real progress tracker – simple, flexible, and motivating.

Here's what you can do with this feature:

  1. Add PRs to popular exercises: Choose from a list of well-known and frequently tracked exercises. Whether classic lifts such as back squats or bench presses, typical benchmark tests or endurance performances – you can easily enter new records and access them at any time.

  2. Create your own PRs (PREMIUM): Can't find your exercise? No problem. With SmartWOD Premium, you can create your own PRs. Define your goal (e.g., “Max Hold,” “Weight,” “Time”), enter your score, and you're done. This makes your training as individual as you are.

  3. Performance Insights in 8 categories (PREMIUM): How strong are you really? How balanced is your fitness? The new PR feature provides an overview of 8 key fitness areas, including strength, endurance, skill, bodyweight, and power.

Your PRs are incorporated directly into this analysis, giving you a clear picture of your strengths and potential. This allows you to see at a glance where your strengths lie and where you can still improve.

Your progress matters – and now you can see it more clearly than ever
